Day 1 Minus 7…
While this is supposed to capture our remodel adventure, part of the adventure is what we are doing while the house is undergoing its transformation. So, I originally failed to start from the true beginning of our adventure - which was a week before the start of demolition…
One week before demolition, we had our first ‘pet sitting for room and board and laundry’ gig! This was at Marcia and Ned’s house on Trilogy Parkway where they needed us to watch Chuck and Maddy - two white terriorish pups that were just a pleasure once Maddy warmed up to us. We called her Licky Lips because she loves to give kisses. The good part of this gig for us was that it started on Monday and the movers were coming on Wednesday to pack up the house and Thursday to load the truck and take everything away to storage. Also, starting on Thursday, Daniel started some pre-demo work by removing everything that was salvageable and finding a new home or a new purpose for it. He is a hard worker and saved us a lot of guilt knowing that not everything would be going to a landfill. So, anyway, we were able to stay nearby and deal with the movers and everything else before actually needing to stay in our RV.
When we are not ‘pet sitting for room and board and laundry’ we will be staying in our RV. We’ve found a great place that is 3.5 miles away at a family’s 1 acre property with 3 full RV hookups along with goats and pigs and chickens - oh, my! Two of the sites are for nightly rentals and one is for longer term. We are obviously staying in the longer term one. We had arranged for our RV to begin it’s home away from home on the first day of demolition, which worked out well because our first pet sitting gig ended on the first day of demolition…Until, we got a call the day before from Marcia and Ned saying that they hoped they could come home a day early! Of course we said ‘yes.’ And, while they graciously offered for us to stay with them another night, we wanted them to have their house back to themselves. So, we scurried around to get things cleaned up as we had found it and found a welcoming night to stay at our next ‘pet sitting for room and board and laundry’ gig at Mary Ellen and Dan’s on Waterview. It worked out because they didn’t need to clean up the guest room before our official stay which was only 10 days away.
And, that takes us up to demo day!
