Windows (did you hear a shoe drop?)

Image
Apparently, things were going a little too smoothly with the remodel. New windows are going in, and they look great! We had a little blip when we noticed the exterior window trim was much too ornate and was made with real wood - neither of which we wanted. But, a quick reach out to the contractor and the designer resolved that issue to where we now have flat, composite trim on the windows - and they look great! So, the next shoe to drop was when the first picture window was installed. We happened to be bringing lunch to the crew so we were in the house admiring the new picture window by the back door - and it looked great! Until, we noticed that it seemed to be so much further from the floor than our existing windows. This was clearly evident because the old windows are right next to where the new window was installed. A quick call to the contractor and watch everyone scramble to figure out what went wrong and how to fix it…

Lucky (the cat) Part 2

Image
Well, back at Lucky’s house and all is good! This time, since we have back to back pet sitting gigs, we’ve decided to put DuEtte into storage and do some maintenance while we’re at it. Since defrosting the fridge was one of the maintenance tasks, we had a bigger move into Lucky’s house because we had to move all of the fridge items too. Not a big deal because we’ve recently found some bins that fit into DuEtte’s fridge perfectly.

HIO #3!

Image
Nan got her third Hole-In-One! This was on #17 with a beautiful shot that came off the back embankment and, apparently, went into the hole. No one could see the hole from the tee box, but her ball was definitely in the hole when we walked up to the green. CONGRATULATIONS!!

Beginning of New Windows

Image
It seems like it has been a while since our last remodel update. The crew has been working diligently, but there hasn’t been a whole lot to show for it since the last update. We had one surprise when they went to remove, what we thought, was a non-load bearing post next to our main fireplace. As it turned out, it was load bearing. So, we had to get a new header to go up into the ceiling to support that area. Not a big deal, but took some time to order and install. Most of the pocket door pockets are now installed and most of the framing for the new nooks and kitchen design are up. Now, they have started on installing the new windows. Only a few are up at this point, but I can already see the difference in site lines with having full windows instead of windows with the horizontal opening frame across the window…

Life on the Farm

Image
We have been staying in our RV since December 27. It is actually very enjoyable. It is cozy, but enough space for the two of us. We still play golf three days a week and go to the gym on non-golf days. So, staying so close by is very convenient. On golf days, we typically shower at the club and then eat dinner there or at the golf course. On gym days, we typically shower at the club and then have breakfast there or the golf course. We are good with having a routine! Last week, our host family left for the weekend and we were in charge of feeding the animals! It was only for 2 1/2 days and was a lot of fun - except when we realized that one of the chickens had died on our watch! We are not sure what happened to it, but apparently chickens can die of old age too. Our host family felt as bad as did, but because we had to deal with it, not that they blamed us - whew! Here is a glimpse of life on the farm:
